The Golden Triangle carried on into Rajasthan — Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, then the lakes and palaces of Udaipur.
Why you’ll love this journey
- The Taj Mahal at sunrise, before the crowds
- Amber Fort and the palaces of the Pink City
- Lake Pichola and the palace city of Udaipur
- Your own car, driver and licensed guides throughout — never a group
Day by day
Day 1 · Delhi
Arrival in Delhi. Your chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals hall at Indira Gandhi International Airport and drives you to your hotel. The evening is yours to rest after the flight. If you arrive early and feel up to it, we can add a gentle first drive through the wide avenues of Lutyens’ Delhi, past India Gate as the lights come on.
Day 2 · Delhi
A full day in Old and New Delhi. A whole day across the two faces of the capital with your private guide. The morning is Old Delhi — the vast courtyard of the Jama Masjid, a cycle-rickshaw ride through the spice markets and silver lanes of Chandni Chowk, and a quiet pause at Raj Ghat, Gandhi’s memorial. After lunch you cross to New Delhi for the UNESCO-listed Humayun’s Tomb, the towering Qutub Minar, and a slow drive down Rajpath past India Gate, the Presidential Palace and Parliament.
Day 3 · Agra
Delhi to Agra, and Agra Fort. After breakfast you leave the capital on the Yamuna Expressway and reach Agra in about three and a half hours. The afternoon belongs to Agra Fort, the red-sandstone seat of Mughal power, its marble palaces looking across the river to the Taj. As the day cools, we stop at Mehtab Bagh, the riverside garden that frames the Taj Mahal at sunset — the perfect prelude to seeing it up close at dawn.
Day 4 · Jaipur
Taj Mahal at sunrise, then Jaipur. You reach the Taj Mahal at first light, when the marble shifts from grey to rose to white and the crowds are still thin — the finest hour to see it, your guide unfolding the story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. After a late breakfast the road turns west to Jaipur, breaking at Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar’s red-sandstone capital abandoned almost intact four centuries ago. You reach the Pink City by evening, the night at leisure.
Day 5 · Jaipur
The Pink City — Amber Fort and the palaces. A full day in Jaipur. In the cool of the morning you climb to the honey-coloured Amber Fort above its lake, exploring the mirrored halls and painted courtyards. In the city you visit the City Palace, still home to Jaipur’s royal family, and the extraordinary open-air observatory of Jantar Mantar, and pause for the classic photograph at the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds. The afternoon leaves time for the bazaars and the block-print and gem workshops.
Day 6 · Udaipur
Jaipur to Udaipur, the city of lakes. A long, scenic drive south through the Aravalli hills brings you to Udaipur, breaking the journey at the great hill-fort of Chittorgarh. You reach the lakeside by evening, the palaces already reflected in the water. Where a short flight suits the route better, we arrange it and open up the day.
Day 7 · Udaipur
Udaipur — the City Palace and Lake Pichola. A full day in the most romantic of Rajasthan’s cities. You explore the sprawling City Palace above Lake Pichola, the Jagdish Temple and the gardens of Saheliyon ki Bari, and in the late afternoon take a boat onto the lake, past the island palaces, as the light turns gold on the walls.
Day 8 · Udaipur
Departure from Udaipur. A last quiet morning by the lake, then your driver transfers you to Udaipur’s airport for your flight onward — usually via Delhi or Mumbai for international connections, which we arrange.

Common questions
Why add Udaipur to a Golden Triangle tour?
Udaipur is Rajasthan’s lake city — palaces, courtyards and a boat on Lake Pichola past the island palaces at golden hour. After the forts and monuments of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, it adds a softer, romantic close, which is why it is a favourite for honeymoons.
What does the 8-day Golden Triangle with Udaipur cover?
The classic Delhi → Agra → Jaipur route, then south to Udaipur for two nights among the lakes and palaces. You get the Taj Mahal at sunrise, the Amber Fort, and a boat on Lake Pichola — private and chauffeured throughout.
How do you travel from Jaipur to Udaipur?
By road it is about six to seven hours through rural Rajasthan, often broken at a heritage stop, or by a short domestic flight if you prefer to save time — arranged for you and billed at cost.
